Artists in Residence

De Ateliers, Amsterdam

De Ateliers, founded in 1963, is an internationally acclaimed studio program based in Amsterdam.
De Ateliers is open to young artists at the beginning of their professional artistic development. It offers residencies for the working year 2012/13 (starting with September 1st 2012).

Artists in Residence

Kuenstlerhaus Dortmund

Since 2005 the Kuenstlerhaus offers an additional option for artists from abroad: The Artist-in-Residence Program during the summer months. Residency period: 6 to 8 weeks from June to August upon mutual agreement. Foreign artists from every field of visual arts and without restriction of age can apply.

Residency for Curators

La Galerie, Noisy-le-Sec (Paris)

La Galerie, a non profit Contemporary Art Centre located in the suburbs of Paris, hosts each year a foreign curator in residence for a period of three months. First organised in 2006, the aim of the residency is to put on an exhibition at La Galerie within the context of a public art centre, and to meet artists and professionals working in the contemporary art field in France.

Residency dates: 5 April – 5 July 2012
Exhibition dates: 26 May – 21 July 2012

Research fellowships for artists, scholars and curators

Henry Moore Institute Research Fellowships 2012-2013, Leeds

The Henry Moore Institute is a world-recognised centre for the study of sculpture in the heart of Leeds. 
The Institute invites applications for the following fellowship programmes in 2012–2013:

Research Fellowships are intended for artists, scholars and curators, working on historic and contemporary sculpture using the Institute’s library, archive of sculptors’ papers and the collection of Leeds Art Gallery. Up to four fellows will be given the opportunity to spend a month in Leeds to develop their own research. With access to the Institute's resources and an on-going dialogue with the Institute staff, fellows are free to pursue their own interests in a supportive and stimulating environment.

Senior Fellowships are intended to give established scholars (working on any aspect of sculpture) time and space to develop a research project free from their usual work commitments. Up to two senior fellowships, for periods of between four to six weeks will be offered.

Sony World Photography Awards, Professional Photographer of the Year

World Photography Organisation

The Sony World Photography Awards, Professional Photographer of the Year's most coveted prize, the L’Iris d’Or, goes along with prize money of $25,000.
The Professional Competition has 15 diverse categories spread across 3 genres of photography: Fine Art, Commercial, Photojournalism & Documentary. Submissions must be based on a body of work. Each photographer may submit a minimum of 3 images and a maximum of 10 images into each Professional category. Images entered in to the Professional Competition must have been completed or first published in 2011.

K.A.I.R. - Košice Artist in Residence

In the frame of European Capital of Culture the NGO Kosice 2013 is running an international Artist-in-Residence-program for emerging artists from all over the world and out of all artistic disciplines and expressions. They give the resident artists the possibility to become a cultural pioneer and work in the inspire environment of Kosice`s singular cultural surrounding to realize art projects, collaborate with the agile local art scene and present themselves to the local and national public. 
 
What they provide: 3 month residency in Kosice, Eastern Slovakia between May and December 2012.

On 9th October 2011, the 22nd anniversary of the Peaceful Revolution of 1989, the City of Leipzig will hold an open application process for a Monument to Freedom and Unity.
Artists, architects and landscape architects from all over the world are invited to submit an application.

III Moscow International Biennale for Young Art

The call for applications for Biennale is open to Russian and foreign artists of new generation working in contemporary art using the latest strategies, concepts and technologies (works can be submitted: individual, collective or as part of curatorial project). The new generation artists are considered those whose age at the time of Biennale opening does not exceed 35 years.
The call for applications is open for the authors of projects (artists and curators if curatorial project is applied).

Kunst-Stoffe - Centre for Re-usable Materials, Berlin

Kunst-Stoffe is a cultural organisation committed to exploring issues of value and waste. They pursue this mission in three areas of activity: exhibition program of discarded materials; projects investigating aesthetics and strategies of reuse; workshops and facilities to provide a practice ground for creative exploration of the ideas of sufficiency and subsistence. The residency includes free housing for the period of stay and offers workspace at Kunst-Stoffe. The artist will have a small studio at exclusive disposal and additional outdoor workspace, as well as partial access to equipped workshops for wood, metal and craftswork. The acquisition of materials will be supported if necessary. Living and travelling expenses have to be covered by the participant. Kunst-Stoffe will provide support in the acquisition of travel grants if desired. Towards the end of the stay, each artist has the opportunity to present work process and results, along with a public program. During the stay, participants will be supported in having open studio presentations and holding workshops, if desired.

Interested artists may send an electronic application (preferably in one PDF), consisting of the following:
- A letter of intent describing applicants interest in working in the context of Kunst-Stoffe
- A documentation of no more than two previous projects
- A project proposal, outlining the activities planned in Berlin
- A proposed time schedule (preferred time slot and length of stay)
